Listen Up Men! Here Are Three Simple Tips to Take Care of Your Skin

For many men, skin care begins and ends with washing in the shower with a plain bar of soap. While this may seem like it does the job, it can actually harm the skin by making it dry, irritated, and dull. Here are the three basics of healthy skin that every man should perform.

Cleanse

The most important skin care tip is to cleanse on a daily basis. Men typically have larger pores, which secret more oil. The skin, especially on the face, can look slick and shiny if not kept clean. All-purpose antibacterial soap is not suitable as a face or skin wash. It can actually strip the skin of oil and moisture, leaving it dry and dull in color. Instead, use a wash that is specifically labeled for men, both in the shower and when washing the face.

Exfoliate

Exfoliating is not just for women; men shed dead skin cells, too. If the dead skin cells are allowed to build up, it can result in dull, irritated, and callused skin. Washing alone is often not enough to get rid of the dead skin. Exfoliating once a day is as simple as using a soft, dry brush on the skin. Rub the brush over the skin in small, circular motions to get rid of dead skin cells and stimulate new growth.

Moisturize

Men typically leave this step out, thinking it is not necessary for their skin. In fact, a man’s skin can dry out just as easily as a woman’s. Using a moisturizer will prevent or slow down the signs of aging as the skin begins to lose its elasticity. Apply a skin moisturizer all over after getting out of the shower.

Taking care of the skin will slow the signs of aging, allow for a closer shave, and promote the look of health. Cleansing, exfoliating, and moisturizing are three simple, quick steps that will reap huge benefits.
