Mid-Day Stress Relief Tips You Can Use At Work

Being able to reduce stress levels at work will lead to a healthier and happier workplace. That new-found relaxation can spill over to your home life, so it’s a good idea to learn these simple, stress-reducing steps. All of these activities can be done to relieve stress while at work and get back on track.

Tune Out And Breathe Deep

Many times stress reaches a crescendo by the time the afternoon rolls around. It’s been building all morning, possibly even since before you arrived at work. It’s time to take a break.

Tune out and relax. What you need to do is break the thought patterns that are contributing to your feelings of stress. Try some deep breathing exercises. Close your eyes and breathe in and out, deeply, five or more times. Chances are you will be in a less stressful state when you open your eyes.

Stretch The Stress Away

Gently stretching your muscles can help them to relax. When we are stressed, our muscles tighten. Even after the stressful period has passed, sometimes our muscles don’t relax.

Doing gentle stretching will help your muscles loosen up. Focus on your stretching while you do it. You can even do mini massages on your shoulders, arms and temples. This will increase blood flow and will help remove the cortisol that builds up when we are under stress.

Tidy Up Your Workspace

For most folks, a cluttered workspace is stressful. Even if you have to share your workspace, you can still put some energy into tidying it up.

Invest in a small bottle of cleaner that offers a refreshing scent. Breathing in scents we enjoy is a sure stress-buster.
