5 Foods to Keep You Hydrated

While many people enjoy summer and the various fun activities the season offers, hot weather can be quite demanding on the human body. People can become dehydrated rather quickly when they spend a lot of time outside in hot weather. However, there are many delicious foods that can help them stay hydrated during long, summer days.

Not only are watermelons terrific in keeping people hydrated, but they also contain many necessary vitamins and minerals including Vitamins A, B6, C, Magnesium and Potassium. People can simply cut a watermelon into chunks or slices, place the pieces in a sealed container in their refrigerator, and eat some whenever they may choose.

Zucchini and squash are also fantastic in helping hydrate people. These vegetables are plentiful in the summer, and they contain essential vitamins and minerals, as well, including Vitamins A, C, Manganese, Potassium and Magnesium. There are many ways to eat these vegetables such as in salads, with dips, in recipes and even on sandwiches.

Cucumbers can also significantly help hydrate the human body, and they also contain several essential vitamins and minerals including vitamins A, C, Potassium, Magnesium and Molybdenum. Cucumber skins contain silica, which helps hydrate skin and tissues, as well. There are also many ways to eat cucumbers such as in salads, on sandwiches and in cold soups.

In addition to the above four foods, water and sports drinks will also keep people hydrated during hot weather. While many people think that soda can hydrate the body, this is simply not so. Soda contains caffeine, which will dehydrate the body. There are many excellent sports drinks available as well as mineral water for people to drink during hot months.

Summer is a fun time of year that offers people many fun activities outdoors. However, when people spend a lot of time outside during these hot months, they can often become hydrated. There are many foods and drinks that people can consume during the summer, and the above suggestions are some of the best.
