Ready to soften those lines in the upper face? Now, in addition to Botox® Cosmetic and Dysport®, we're proud to offer another option for wrinkle relaxing. Xeomin is a botulinum toxin formulation similar to Botox Cosmetic and Dysport that provides patients with a more youthful, refreshed look. While Xeomin works a little differently than its more well-known alternatives, it gives patients the results they're looking for and a look they love! Ready to combat those frown lines? Keep reading to learn more about Xeomin at Ultra Smooth Skin.

Xeomin, an Alternative to Botox Cosmetic

Like Botox Cosmetic and Dysport, FDA-approved Xeomin's active ingredient is botulinum toxin, a protein that, when injected directly into the muscle, acts as a localized muscle relaxer. When administered by a licensed injector, Xeomin works by softening existing lines and slowing the emergence of new fine lines and wrinkles.

What to Expect With a Xeomin Treatment at Ultra Smooth Skin

At Ultra Smooth Skin, patient care and safety are our top priorities. With three locations in the Phoenix-area, our patients enjoy convenience and professionalism, combined with the assurance that their treatment results will be top-notch. Lisa Williams, ANP-C, founder of Ultra Smooth Skin, is recognized as a leader in the field of non-surgical cosmetic treatments. In addition to providing patients with excellent aesthetic results, Lisa trains other providers in aesthetic treatments. It's for all of these reasons that our patients come to us again and again for injectables and other aesthetic treatments in the Phoenix area.

The Xeomin Consultation

During a Xeomin consultation, you'll meet with one of our injection specialists. They'll look at your medical history, ask what your aesthetic goals are, and discuss realistic expectations. When your provider decides you're a good candidate for the treatment, they will schedule a time for a session that's tailored to your needs and desires. In the meantime, the specialist will provide you with instructions to follow prior to your appointment to ensure the best results.

The Xeomin Procedure

When you come in for your Xeomin procedure at Ultra Smooth Skin, your aesthetic injection specialist will begin by ensuring your complete comfort. Xeomin needles are very fine, and many patients don't need anesthetic; however, topical numbing is often applied prior to injection to ensure total comfort. Sometimes, all that's needed is ice. When you're comfortable, the specialist will inject Xeomin into the areas of your face or neck that need treatment. After each injection, any excess fluid is wiped away with a gauze pad, and the specialist may apply ice to keep down the swelling and improve your comfort. Most Xeomin sessions don't last longer than half an hour depending on how many areas need to be treated.

There's no downtime after the treatment, so you can return to your regular routine. Your provider will give you instructions on aftercare and schedule you for a follow-up appointment to check on your results.

Xeomin Results and Follow-up Treatments

A bit of bruising, redness or swelling is normal after Xeomin treatments, but this fades within a week. The good news is that you'll be able to see a lessening in the depth of the wrinkles and lines around this time. You'll be scheduled for follow-up appointments within the first two weeks after the treatment. This is to make sure that everything is going as it should. If this is your first Xeomin experience, you may need a touch-up treatment to ensure the desired result.

The improvements given by Xeomin should last between three to six months. At this time, we recommend that you come back in for touch-up treatments to maintain your results. Follow-ups like these often don't require as many injections as the initial treatment, making your appointments shorter and the costs lower.

Xeomin FAQ

One tip before you come in for a consultation is to write down any questions you have about Xeomin and other injectable treatments we provide. Our specialists are more than happy to answer any and all questions you have, especially those related to your unique needs and desired outcome. However, we have compiled a list of frequently asked questions about Xeomin to help you get started prior to your first appointment below.

How Does Xeomin Work?

Xeomin works by interrupting the action of a neurotransmitter called acetylcholine. A neurotransmitter is a chemical that sends signals between nerves. In this case, when the neurotransmitter is disrupted by the botulinum toxin, the muscle beneath the wrinkle is relaxed, and the wrinkle smooths out. Even though the muscle is relaxed, you will still be able to make facial expressions. You'll just be able to express yourself without the lines!

Why Should I Choose Ultra Smooth Skin for Xeomin?

Patients choose Ultra Smooth Skin because Lisa Williams, our medical director, is a trained nurse practitioner in facial anti-aging. She has extensive experience in administering Xeomin and other forms of the botulinum toxin at our offices in Scottsdale and Chandler, Arizona. A person who performs Xeomin injections must be well-trained and have a precise knowledge of all the muscles in the face and what they do. Lisa, a Certified Aesthetic Nurse Practitioner, is highly skilled and passes along her skills to our specialists at Ultra Smooth Skin.

How Is Xeomin Different From Botox Cosmetic and Dysport?

Xeomin is different from Botox Cosmetic and Dysport in that it does not need refrigeration before it's used and does not have additives. This reduces the protein load in the toxin, which lowers the risk of allergic reactions. It is also specifically approved by the FDA to treat frown lines and wrinkles between the eyebrows.

Who Is a Good Candidate for Xeomin?

A good candidate for Xeomin is an adult who is in reasonably good health and doesn't smoke. Good candidates wish to soften lines and creases in their brow and around their eyes and mouth.

Who Shouldn't Get Xeomin?

Like all prescriptions, Xeomin isn't right for everyone. People who are allergic to Xeomin shouldn't get it, nor should patients who can't stop taking anticoagulants or other blood-thinning medications. Women who are pregnant or nursing should wait until their babies are born or weaned before they receive treatment. If you've received Botox Cosmetic or Dysport and had an allergic reaction, you should not receive Xeomin.

What Areas Can Be Treated With Xeomin?

Lines in the forehead, crow's feet and other lines or wrinkles caused by movement in the face can be treated with FDA-approved Xeomin.

Where Will My Xeomin Treatment Be Performed?

Just like other cosmetic injectables, Xeomin is a non-surgical treatment and does not require a visit to a surgical center or hospital. You'll be treated in one of our three convenient medical spa locations in Scottsdale or Chandler, Arizona. Choose the most convenient location for you to setup a consultation.

Does Xeomin Hurt? What Are My Pain Relief Options?

The needles are so fine that the injections shouldn't be painful, but your skin can be numbed with a topical anesthetic and ice applications. Most patients say that their treatments are relatively comfortable and any minor discomfort is worth the cosmetic results that Xeomin provides.

What Are the Potential Side Effects of Xeomin?

Typical side effects are redness, swelling, bruising and tenderness where the toxin was injected. More serious side effects are rare and include allergic reactions such as a swelling throat or tongue, itching and trouble breathing. Serious side effects are most often prevented by seeing an experience injector in a reputable treatment facility.

How Much Does Xeomin Cost?

The cost of Xeomin injections and other injectables vary by location, experience of the providers, and patient needs. During your consultation, our providers will discuss the cost of Xeomin as it pertains to you. Please also check out our monthly specials to see if we're offering special rates on Xeomin and other injectables.

Where Can I See Xeomin Before and After Photos?

Xeomin before and after photos can be seen at the official Xeomin website and elsewhere on the web. We also offer before and after photos for your perusal in our practice. We will also take photographs of you in our office so you can see how well treatment worked for you.

1Individual results may vary. 2All manufacturer claims, in regards to the benefits, process, length/effectiveness of treatments, how soon you'll see results or heal, or claims of minimal side effects such as minor redness or mild discomfort or no downtime, are provided by the pharmaceautical manufacturers as part of their guidelines in promoting their product and are backed by case studies/peer-reviewed publications and are published on their individual websites. 3Testimonials are the opinions of real clients that wanted to provide them and express their opinion to others. When written, the only editing done was to fix minor grammatical/syntax errors and/or to truncate extended testimonials that, while nice, went a bit long. Video testimonials are unedited. 4Treatments and services that are time-related (such as fees per a "20 minute session") are rooted in the fact that most appointments (i.e. the historical average amount of time required to complete most areas we treat) take that amount of time; however, it may be recommended or advised or necessary that more than one session time is required to achieve whatever affect you're looking for (such as someone wanting to treat many areas of their body vs someone simply wanting to treat their hands). A quick consultation in our office will provide you the exact time required to treat whatever you wish since treatment areas have a direct impact on time required to treat such areas. 5Superlatives, when describing services/products, are manufacturer claims and, in the end, it's your opinion as to what service/product is right/effective/best for you. 6Internal comparison claims comparing one technology to another (such as stating that a new product is x% better than the previous model, similar to how a 2023 model vehicle has many advances/improvements over a 2010 vehicle), when comparisons are done within the same company's lineup, are the manufacturer's statement-of-fact and reflect the latest science and/or breakthrough that, when released as a product, is the best/most effective at the time within their own product lineup — they are not claims comparing their product against other manufacturers' products. 7Videos, which we have chosen to add links to on our website, are either local television coverage pieces or third-party videos that we feel are great for learning and gaining an overview of the process of several services we offer; but third-party videos (e.g. those in the public domain, such as YouTube) in no way should be construed as an endorsement of Ultra Smooth Skin and/or our services specifically. They are meant as an awareness tool to help you decide upon common treatments provided by Ultra Smooth Skin and medspa providers nationwide. Some videos are produced by the pharmceutical manufacturers and others are by service providers, while still others are television appearances by Lisa Williams, the owner of Ultra Smooth Skin. 8Time is accurate as certain procedures have a fixed-length time of treatment per area. 9At our locations. 10Data on file at manufacturer.
