Whether you are just beginning to notice the symptoms of aging on your skin or have dealt with years of wrinkles and sagging skin, Thermage may be your solution. What to Expect from Thermage at Ultra Smooth Skin

You will find Thermage offered at our Gainey location in Scottsdale, AZ. You'll experience expert care with a focus on patient safety and results from our team of aesthetic professionals.

The Thermage Consultation

The consultation provides us with an opportunity to examine your skin condition, discuss your goals, and go over your medical history to determine in Thermage is right for you. We will answer your questions and, if you're a good candidate for treatment, we will proceed with treatment. If Thermage isn't the right solution for you, we can recommend other non-surgical treatments in our practices or refer you to a local plastic surgeon who can more adequately address your needs, if necessary.

The Thermage Procedure

Treatment time varies depending upon the treatment area. The larger the area, the longer your treatment will take. Before starting your Thermage treatment, you will be asked to remove your makeup if you are receiving a facial treatment. The aesthetic provider will then place a grounding patch on your body, typically on the abdomen. The nurse holds a small device over the treatment area. First, the device cools your skin prior to heating it. Following the heat, your skin will again be cooled. This process is repeated until the entire area has been treated. During the treatment, your provider will check in with you to ensure your comfort.

Thermage Results and Follow-up Treatments

Following the procedure, you will be able to go about your usual day. You may notice that your skin is a bit red for a few hours afterward. You can resume your normal skincare regimen following treatment, including makeup application. You may notice immediate results, however full results won't be noticeable for a month or more. Results often last for two or more years before you will need a follow-up treatment, depending on your treatment area and other factors.

Thermage FAQ

You are sure to have plenty of questions about Thermage. While you will get the best and most complete answers from your aesthetic provider during your initial consultation, you will find some brief answers to some of the most commonly asked questions about Thermage below.

How does Thermage work?

Thermage uses radiofrequency waves provided through a handheld device to remodel the tissues beneath the skin. Thermage jump-starts the skin's own restorative processes. The heat changes the collagen while the cool sensations provide comfort and skin protection. Along with the heating and cooling, you will also feel small vibrations to improve comfort.

Why should I choose Ultra Smooth Skin for Thermage?

At Ultra Smooth Skin, we provide Thermage treatments in a safe, secure and pleasant environment. Our aesthetic providers are highly trained in Thermage and laser skin technology, and our medical director, Lisa Williams, is certified as an aesthetic nurse practitioner with years of experience. In addition to providing treatments, Lisa trains others on the use of lasers and other anti-aging procedures.

How is Thermage different from laser skin treatments like Fraxel?

Simply put, Thermage is not a laser like Fraxel. Thermage uses radiofrequency technology to lift and tighten skin while triggering the body's natural regenerative processes beneath the skin. Fraxel, on the other hand, is a fractional laser that targets skin irregularities to even out skin tone and texture. Though both technologies address skin aging and imperfections in different ways, they can be very complementary treatments that, when used together, can address more of your skin concerns. It's for this reason that we've combined both Thermage and Fraxel into a Thermafrax treatment series, giving patients advanced aesthetic results.

Who is a good candidate for Thermage?

Thermage is good for adult men and women who struggle with loose skin and wrinkles. If you have drooping eyelids, a sagging jawline, or loose skin almost anywhere on the body, Thermage may be right for you.

Who shouldn't get Thermage?

Thermage cannot be used on areas that have tattoos. It may not provide adequate effects if you have severe signs of aging, such as very deep wrinkles or sagging skin that is more pronounced. In these cases, other non-surgical treatments or even plastic surgery may be recommended. Thermage should not be undertaken if you have recently received dermal fillers, as the radiofrequency waves can break down the product. Thermage is not safe if you use a cardiac pacemaker.

What areas can be treated with Thermage?

Thermage is effective on aging, drooping skin throughout the body. It can be used around the eyes, jaw, lips, neck and almost anywhere on the body where you notice bulging or an uneven skin texture, including the thighs, abdomen, buttocks and hands.

Does Thermage reduce fat?

Recent research has found that, in addition to lifting and tightening loose, sagging skin, Thermage provides the added benefit of reducing fat in the lower face. This is great for patients who have fatty deposits in sagging jowls or along the jawline. Ask us for details during your personalized consultation.

However, if you're looking for fat reduction in other areas of the body, such as the upper arms, abs, and thighs, CoolSculpting is designed specifically for non-surgical fat reduction and is available at our Gainey location in Scottsdale, AZ.

Where will my Thermage treatments be performed?

We provide Thermage in each of our three Phoenix-area medical spas. You can receive treatment in the same location where your consultation is performed.

Is Thermage painful? Is anesthesia available?

Today's Thermage treatments are generally not considered to be painful although you will feel the heating, cooling and vibrations. Your provider will check with you about your comfort throughout the procedure. No anesthesia is required with Thermage, so you will be able to go about your normal day immediately following treatment.

What are the potential side effects with Thermage?

Thermage is FDA-approved, so it is considered safe for most patients. However, you should be aware that, as with all medical procedures, some potential side effects do exist. You may have skin redness for a few hours following the procedure. Prior to your treatment, your provider will discuss other side effects with you, which may include temporary numbness and swelling.

How much does Thermage cost?

The cost for Thermage depends on your provider and on the areas you are having treated. Be sure to check our website for monthly specials that can help you save money.

Where can I see Thermage before and after pictures?

Check the official website for Thermage before-and-after pictures. There's a very large library of people who have received Thermage skin tightening treatments on the face, neck, and body. See what Thermage can do and then schedule your treatment at Ultra Smooth Skin.

1Individual results may vary. 2All manufacturer claims, in regards to the benefits, process, length/effectiveness of treatments, how soon you'll see results or heal, or claims of minimal side effects such as minor redness or mild discomfort or no downtime, are provided by the pharmaceautical manufacturers as part of their guidelines in promoting their product and are backed by case studies/peer-reviewed publications and are published on their individual websites. 3Testimonials are the opinions of real clients that wanted to provide them and express their opinion to others. When written, the only editing done was to fix minor grammatical/syntax errors and/or to truncate extended testimonials that, while nice, went a bit long. Video testimonials are unedited. 4Treatments and services that are time-related (such as fees per a "20 minute session") are rooted in the fact that most appointments (i.e. the historical average amount of time required to complete most areas we treat) take that amount of time; however, it may be recommended or advised or necessary that more than one session time is required to achieve whatever affect you're looking for (such as someone wanting to treat many areas of their body vs someone simply wanting to treat their hands). A quick consultation in our office will provide you the exact time required to treat whatever you wish since treatment areas have a direct impact on time required to treat such areas. 5Superlatives, when describing services/products, are manufacturer claims and, in the end, it's your opinion as to what service/product is right/effective/best for you. 6Internal comparison claims comparing one technology to another (such as stating that a new product is x% better than the previous model, similar to how a 2023 model vehicle has many advances/improvements over a 2010 vehicle), when comparisons are done within the same company's lineup, are the manufacturer's statement-of-fact and reflect the latest science and/or breakthrough that, when released as a product, is the best/most effective at the time within their own product lineup — they are not claims comparing their product against other manufacturers' products. 7Videos, which we have chosen to add links to on our website, are either local television coverage pieces or third-party videos that we feel are great for learning and gaining an overview of the process of several services we offer; but third-party videos (e.g. those in the public domain, such as YouTube) in no way should be construed as an endorsement of Ultra Smooth Skin and/or our services specifically. They are meant as an awareness tool to help you decide upon common treatments provided by Ultra Smooth Skin and medspa providers nationwide. Some videos are produced by the pharmceutical manufacturers and others are by service providers, while still others are television appearances by Lisa Williams, the owner of Ultra Smooth Skin. 8Time is accurate as certain procedures have a fixed-length time of treatment per area. 9At our locations. 10Data on file at manufacturer.
