Wrinkles, sagging, hollowness, and dull skin are all hallmarks of an aging face. But what causes this and how can we work to bring back youthful vibrance? Thankfully, non-surgical treatment options are numerous. One such solution is our combination therapy that brings the laser rejuvenation benefits of Fraxel together with the non-surgical radiofrequency skin tightening technology of Thermage. We call it Thermafrax, and it could be the solution you're looking for to combat the signs of aging.

The Causes of Aging Skin

The causes of aging skin are two-fold. First, skin cell regeneration slows down as we get older. Dead skin cells start building up on the surface, causing a dull complexion; scars take longer to heal, causing uneven skin texture; and sun damage isn't corrected as quickly, resulting in uneven skin tone. Second, collagen and elastin production slow down, making the skin appear less plump (collagen), so the face develops wrinkles, folds, and hollow areas; and less elastic (elastin), so the skin starts to sag.

The visible damage caused by the slowing of our bodies' ability to heal itself and regenerate youthful building blocks can be dramatic, if we let it. But we have numerous tools in our anti-aging toolbox to halt this damage in its tracks and reverse it. This includes Thermafrax.

How Thermafrax Combats the Signs of Aging

Thermage and Fraxel can be used individually, depending on your needs. Each requires a series of treatments to see full results.

Fraxel for Laser Skin Resurfacing and Regeneration

Fraxel is a fractionated laser technology that allows providers to target specific areas for treatment while also giving deep, penetrable results. As the laser effectively removes the dead skin and stimulates skin cell turnover more rapidly, the signs of aging are diminished. Dull skin appears more vibrant, fine lines fade, and hyperpigmentation is also corrected. Scars can also be effectively treated using Fraxel.

Thermage for Skin Tightening and Plumping

Thermage uses radiofrequency technology to stimulate and tighten three layers of skin, providing consistent results and long-term anti-aging. By stimulating collagen production beneath the skin, the skin isn't just tightened, it's rejuvenated as the collagen growth helps restore youthful fullness.

The Thermafrax Combination

With Thermafrax, we combine these two proven anti-aging technologies to target and treat multiple signs of aging.

First, we perform Thermage on the affected area to stimulate skin tightening and collagen production. Following the treatment, Fraxel is immediately performed to trigger skin cell turnover and healing. We will then perform two more rounds of Fraxel, each spaced out one month apart.

Following your completed Thermafrax series, you will begin to see gradual improvements in your skin's tightness, texture, and color. Scars and fine lines will diminish, as will the signs of sun damage and other skin pigmentation irregularities. Your pores will also appear tighter, and facial laxity around the eyes and along the jawline will be improved.

Complementing Thermafrax With Other Treatments

Some patients benefit from adding fillers to their treatment protocol following their completed Thermafrax series. Fillers can help stimulate more collagen production, and some will even reintroduce hyaluronic acid. Like collagen, hyaluronic acid diminishes as we age, contributing to thinning lips and facial hollowness, folds, and wrinkles. As always, we recommend routine facials, daily sun protection, and a solid home skin care routine with products proven to work with your skin type and anti-aging goals.

1Individual results may vary. 2All manufacturer claims, in regards to the benefits, process, length/effectiveness of treatments, how soon you'll see results or heal, or claims of minimal side effects such as minor redness or mild discomfort or no downtime, are provided by the pharmaceautical manufacturers as part of their guidelines in promoting their product and are backed by case studies/peer-reviewed publications and are published on their individual websites. 3Testimonials are the opinions of real clients that wanted to provide them and express their opinion to others. When written, the only editing done was to fix minor grammatical/syntax errors and/or to truncate extended testimonials that, while nice, went a bit long. Video testimonials are unedited. 4Treatments and services that are time-related (such as fees per a "20 minute session") are rooted in the fact that most appointments (i.e. the historical average amount of time required to complete most areas we treat) take that amount of time; however, it may be recommended or advised or necessary that more than one session time is required to achieve whatever affect you're looking for (such as someone wanting to treat many areas of their body vs someone simply wanting to treat their hands). A quick consultation in our office will provide you the exact time required to treat whatever you wish since treatment areas have a direct impact on time required to treat such areas. 5Superlatives, when describing services/products, are manufacturer claims and, in the end, it's your opinion as to what service/product is right/effective/best for you. 6Internal comparison claims comparing one technology to another (such as stating that a new product is x% better than the previous model, similar to how a 2023 model vehicle has many advances/improvements over a 2010 vehicle), when comparisons are done within the same company's lineup, are the manufacturer's statement-of-fact and reflect the latest science and/or breakthrough that, when released as a product, is the best/most effective at the time within their own product lineup — they are not claims comparing their product against other manufacturers' products. 7Videos, which we have chosen to add links to on our website, are either local television coverage pieces or third-party videos that we feel are great for learning and gaining an overview of the process of several services we offer; but third-party videos (e.g. those in the public domain, such as YouTube) in no way should be construed as an endorsement of Ultra Smooth Skin and/or our services specifically. They are meant as an awareness tool to help you decide upon common treatments provided by Ultra Smooth Skin and medspa providers nationwide. Some videos are produced by the pharmceutical manufacturers and others are by service providers, while still others are television appearances by Lisa Williams, the owner of Ultra Smooth Skin. 8Time is accurate as certain procedures have a fixed-length time of treatment per area. 9At our locations. 10Data on file at manufacturer.
