Repair Sun-damaged Skin with a Laserfacial

This story truly starts at the beginning...
It begins innocently enough: kids hanging out out the beach, lake or pool. From there, we get older and visit Hawaii, Cancun and the Bahamas. And for a lot of us, we dream of retiring under a straw umbrella and soaking in the rays. But over the course of time, the sun can do us some damage — especially those that freckle and burn easily.
Enter Laser and Light Treatments for Sun-Damaged Skin
Sun-damaged skin causes uneven skin pigmentation in addition to premature lines and wrinkles. Lasers, such as the laserfacial, and light treatments, work by targeting affected skin cells to trigger faster skin cell regeneration.
Which Treatment is Right For Me?
Your natural skin tone is one of the deciding factors in determining whether a laser or light treatment will be best to correct your sun-damaged skin. The extent of the sun damage is also crucial in determining what kind of treatment will provide you with the best results.
What Other Treatments Do You Offer for Sun-Damaged Skin?
We offer a variety of laser treatments, including the Clear+Brilliant laser peel treatment and Fraxel laser resurfacing. Both treat hyperpigmentation associated with sun damage and can address other concerns such as enlarged pores. Our team will evaluate your skin and discuss your medical history and needs to determine which treatment will give you the best results.
Is All Sun Damage Treatable With Lasers and Light?
If your sun-damaged skin appears suspicious, we recommend that you see a dermatologist prior to receiving any cosmetic treatments from our team. Suspicious lesions can be benign, but some are cancerous or precancerous and should be evaluated by a board-certified dermatologist. If you require a referral, we are happy to provide you with one.
Are Other Treatment Options Available?
In addition to lasers and light treatments for sun-damaged skin, we also provide patients with chemical peels, microneedling, and skin care products such as brighteners.
How to Care for Sun-Damaged Skin After Treatment
All patients, regardless of skin condition or treatments, should use sun protection daily. We live in the Arizona desert, making us more vulnerable to advanced sun damage. All patients should use high-quality sunscreen with a high-SPF to protect against harmful UV-rays that speed up the aging process and increase the risk of skin cancer.
Sun protection is even more important for anyone receiving a skin treatment such as a laserfacial treatment. The lasers and lights are designed to reveal a new, fresh layer of skin. This skin is especially vulnerable to UV-damage. Patients are encouraged to avoid direct sunlight, wear protective clothing and wide-brimmed hats, and apply sunscreen daily, reapplying hourly.
Other postprocedural care instructions will be provided based on the type of treatment you receive. You may be prescribed a home care regimen to help speed along your results or protect your skin from further sun damage.
