Restore Youthful Fullness with Restylane®

The Restylane line of fillers includes various formulations to give you natural-looking and long-lasting results. Along with smoothing facial wrinkles and folds, Restylane products can enhance your lips and soften the look of the lines that develop around them. They even lift and add volume to the cheek area while allowing you to keep your natural range of facial expressions. Facial fillers like Restylane and Juvederm® (which is by Allergan, the makers of Botox® Cosmetic) are popular options at our aesthetics practices in Scottsdale and Chandler, AZ. In this article, we're going to focus on the primary Restylane product: Restylane-L.
Restylane-L
As we age, the natural elastic material around the cheek area starts to break down, causing our skin to sag. When this happens, wrinkles become more prominent while facial volume is reduced. FDA-approved Restylane-L is a hyaluronic acid gel that is injected into the facial areas that are beginning to show the signs of aging. Once the filler is injected, your face will display a natural appearance that is more youthful-looking.

The Restylane Consultation
When you arrive for your Restylane consultation, you'll meet with one of our aesthetic injectors. You'll have the time to go over any concerns that you may have, and we'll also give you details about the results that you can expect. We will develop a customized treatment plan for you during your consultation. If we determine that you are a candidate for the treatment, we'll proceed with the injection or schedule a time for you to receive it.
The Restylane Procedure
The Restylane procedure starts before you come in for your first injection. Prior to any cosmetic procedure, we recommend that you don't drink any alcohol or take blood-thinning medicines like aspirin. To keep you comfortable during the procedure, your provider can apply a topical numbing agent or ice before injecting the filler. Fine needles are used to inject Restylane into the areas of your face that are showing signs of aging, and Restylane contains lidocaine, a local anesthetic, designed to help you feel comfortable during the procedure.
Restylane Results and Follow-up Treatments
Based on clinical trials, those treated with Restylane-L reported a 95 percent improvement at the two-month mark following their treatment. The same study participants confirmed a 73 percent improvement one year after their treatment, showing that Restylane-L is an effective cosmetic procedure that requires few follow-up treatments during the first year.
After each treatment, you'll come back for a follow-up so our providers can check your results and administer more filler if necessary. After that, routine touch-ups will be required to maintain results. Restylane lasts for about 12-18 months, depending on the patient.

How Does Restylane Work?
Restylane is made from hyaluronic acid, a substance that your body produces naturally. As you age, your body makes less of it. When products made from hyaluronic acid are injected into the areas of your face that are starting to show your age, wrinkles diminish, giving you a more youthful appearance.
Why Should I Choose Ultra Smooth Skin for My Restylane Treatment?
Lisa Williams is the medical director of Ultra Smooth Skin. As a certified aesthetic nurse practitioner, she has the training and certification to administer quality treatments. Not only is she skilled at administering facial fillers, but she also trains others to do so in all of our three conveniently located facilities in Scottsdale and Chandler, AZ. We are a top-rated medical spa and injectables provider as recognized by Allergan, the makers of Botox and Juvederm.

Who Is a Good Candidate for Restylane?
If you're 21 years old or older, are in good physical health, and have unwanted lines, wrinkles and folds, you are likely a good candidate for a Restylane treatment.
Who Shouldn't Get Restylane?
Cosmetic treatments are not for everyone. If you've ever experienced a severe allergic reaction to a hyaluronic acid filler, you may want to reconsider a Restylane treatment. Women who are pregnant or nursing a child should wait to have this type of cosmetic treatment. If we determine that you shouldn't get Restylane, we will recommend an alternative way for you to regain your youthful look.
What Areas Can Be Treated with Restylane-L?
Restylane-L is designed for the cheeks and smile lines, but it's also sometimes used as a lip filler for some patients. Restylane is also used under the eyes to smooth out dark circles and lines.
How Is Restylane-L Different From Other Restylane Fillers?
While all Restylane products are formulated to treat the signs of aging, Restylane-L is for severe wrinkles and creases that develop in your facial tissues. It is also designed to enhance your lips.
Where Will My Restylane Treatment Be Performed?
Restylane is a cosmetic procedure that we perform right in the office. This means that you'll be receiving your injections in one of our three locations in Scottsdale or Chandler, AZ.
What Pain Relief Options Are Available During a Restylane Treatment?
Restylane-L contains lidocaine, a local anesthetic. After the first injection, the lidocaine gets to work to help numb the area and ensure your comfort during treatment. A topical numbing may also be used, depending on your needs. Ice is also available to help with swelling.
What Are the Potential Side Effects of Restylane?
The side effects of Restylane are usually mild. Studies report that the most common side effects are swelling, bruising and redness around the injection site. Most people who experience side effects report that they are back to normal within seven days. More serious side effects are rare and will be discussed prior to your treatment.
How Much Does Restylane Cost?
The cost of Restylane varies depending upon your needs and the provider administering the treatment. Pricing is listed in the chart below, and we often run specials on Restylane and other fillers in our practice.
