What to Expect from Restylane Refyne and Defyne at Ultra Smooth Skin

We offer Restylane Refyne and Defyne treatments at each of our Phoenix-area medical spas in Scottsdale and Chandler. You will receive individualized care as our providers listen to your needs and treat you with professionalism throughout your experience.

The Consultation

Before you receive treatment, you will be required to have a personalized consultation to make sure you're a good candidate for Restylane Refyne and Defyne. One of our injection specialists will go over problem areas that you wish to address and help you determine a treatment method. We will also discuss possible side effects. Once we decide that Restylane Refyne or Defyne is right for you, we will help you schedule an appointment for the treatment and provide you with instructions on how to prepare for your visit.

The Procedure

We provide cosmetic injectables in our offices using a topical numbing cream to minimize discomfort; however Restylane Refyne and Defyne both contain lidocaine to ensure your comfort, so you may not require it. We also swab the skin with antiseptic for cleanliness. After we determine how much filler we will use, we carefully inject the product beneath your skin, using a very small needle in multiple locations. Following the procedure, we will let you know of any changes that you should make in your daily routine as part of your post-procedure care guide, though most patients are able to return to their normal routine with very few exceptions.

Results and Follow-up Treatments

You should begin seeing results from the injections within a week as your deep facial wrinkles begin to fill. You may have some swelling, redness or bruising at the injection sites, which should abate within three days. We advise that you stay out of the sun following treatment and avoid intense exercise. The results of Restylane Refyne and Defyne should last approximately 12 months.

Restylane Refyne and Defyne FAQ

Our practitioners will be able to give you the most comprehensive overview of these cosmetic fillers during your personalized consultation. However, you will find the answers to many of the most popular questions about Restylane Refyne and Restylane Defyne below while you wait for your first appointment.

How Do Restylane Refyne and Defyne Work?

Restylane Refyne and Defyne use hyaluronic acid to provide volume to facial folds and wrinkles. Hyaluronic acid is found naturally in the body but is depleted as the skin ages. Restylane Refyne and Defyne use XpresHAn Technology, which is an advanced gel that provides volume and support. Each provides a different level of support and thickness, depending on the depth of your marionette lines and nasolabial folds.

Why Should I Choose Ultra Smooth Skin for Injectables?

The aesthetic providers at Ultra Smooth Skin have performed numerous cosmetic procedures using injectables, and our Certified Aesthetic Nurse Practitioner, Lisa Williams, is a specialist in dermal fillers. With over 14 years of cosmetic experience, Lisa is highly knowledgeable in all skin treatments. We offer injectables at each of our convenient locations throughout the Phoenix area.

How Are Restylane Refyne and Defyne Different?

Restylane Refyne and Defyne target laugh lines. They can soften and fill moderate-to-severe wrinkles around the mouth. These products have been approved by the FDA for use in the United States since 2016. What makes them different from other dermal fillers is their flexibility. Made from gel, Refyne and Defyne help your face retain its natural shape while moving fluidly with facial expressions. The results last up to 12 months.

Who Is a Good Candidate for Restylane Treatments?

Restylane Refyne and Defyne have been approved for use on moderate to severe facial wrinkles as well as in the cheeks in healthy adults over the age of 21.

Who Shouldn't Get Restylane Refyne and Defyne?

These treatments may not be right for everyone. You may not be a candidate if you have certain allergies, are pregnant or breastfeeding, or have scarring in the treatment areas. You should also not plan any other facial treatments, such as laser treatments, around the same time. Some patients who take certain prescription medications or have certain health conditions may not be good candidates for treatment with Restylane fillers.

What Areas Can Be Treated With Restylane Refyne and Defyne?

The nasolabial folds and marionette lines, known as laugh lines, are the primary areas of treatment.

Where Will My Treatments Be Performed?

Our aesthetic injectors provide Restylane Refyne and Defyne at each of our three convenient locations in Scottsdale and Chandler, AZ. You may have your treatments at the same location as your consultation.

Do Injectable Fillers Hurt? Is Pain Relief Available?

Restylane Refyne and Defyne contain lidocaine to ensure comfort during treatment. Lidocaine is a local anesthetic that can be injected or applied topically. We also offer topical numbing cream and ice to help with any mild discomfort you may experience. The ice will also help with swelling. Patients report Restylane Refyne and Defyne treatments as very tolerable.

What Are the Potential Side Effects With a Restylane Refyne or Defyne Treatment?

Most side effects of Restylane Refyne or Defyne are very mild and clear up within three days. You may notice some transitory redness, itching, bruising or swelling as well as some mild discomfort around the injection sites. More serious side effects are rare but could include scarring of the skin or allergic reactions. Our specialists will discuss all side effects with you prior to your procedure, and most serious side effects are avoided when patients choose medically licensed providers with a proven track record of success and patient safety.

How Much Do Restylane Refyne and Defyne Cost?

The cost varies depending on your provider as well as on your particular needs. You can earn ASPIRE® Galderma Rewards, which give you points each time you come in for a treatment. You can use your rewards on future treatments as well as on products from your favorite stores. We also offer monthly specials.

Where Can I See Restylane Refyne and Defyne Before and After Photos?

You can find before and after pictures of people who have received these treatments on the Restylane USA website. We also have before and after photos that you can take a look at during your consultation.

1Individual results may vary. 2All manufacturer claims, in regards to the benefits, process, length/effectiveness of treatments, how soon you'll see results or heal, or claims of minimal side effects such as minor redness or mild discomfort or no downtime, are provided by the pharmaceautical manufacturers as part of their guidelines in promoting their product and are backed by case studies/peer-reviewed publications and are published on their individual websites. 3Testimonials are the opinions of real clients that wanted to provide them and express their opinion to others. When written, the only editing done was to fix minor grammatical/syntax errors and/or to truncate extended testimonials that, while nice, went a bit long. Video testimonials are unedited. 4Treatments and services that are time-related (such as fees per a "20 minute session") are rooted in the fact that most appointments (i.e. the historical average amount of time required to complete most areas we treat) take that amount of time; however, it may be recommended or advised or necessary that more than one session time is required to achieve whatever affect you're looking for (such as someone wanting to treat many areas of their body vs someone simply wanting to treat their hands). A quick consultation in our office will provide you the exact time required to treat whatever you wish since treatment areas have a direct impact on time required to treat such areas. 5Superlatives, when describing services/products, are manufacturer claims and, in the end, it's your opinion as to what service/product is right/effective/best for you. 6Internal comparison claims comparing one technology to another (such as stating that a new product is x% better than the previous model, similar to how a 2023 model vehicle has many advances/improvements over a 2010 vehicle), when comparisons are done within the same company's lineup, are the manufacturer's statement-of-fact and reflect the latest science and/or breakthrough that, when released as a product, is the best/most effective at the time within their own product lineup — they are not claims comparing their product against other manufacturers' products. 7Videos, which we have chosen to add links to on our website, are either local television coverage pieces or third-party videos that we feel are great for learning and gaining an overview of the process of several services we offer; but third-party videos (e.g. those in the public domain, such as YouTube) in no way should be construed as an endorsement of Ultra Smooth Skin and/or our services specifically. They are meant as an awareness tool to help you decide upon common treatments provided by Ultra Smooth Skin and medspa providers nationwide. Some videos are produced by the pharmceutical manufacturers and others are by service providers, while still others are television appearances by Lisa Williams, the owner of Ultra Smooth Skin. 8Time is accurate as certain procedures have a fixed-length time of treatment per area. 9At our locations. 10Data on file at manufacturer.
