Botox® Cosmetic Injections in Scottsdale, AZ

Before and after Botox Cosmetic

Among anti-aging and rejuvenation treatments, Botox is regarded as the gold standard. Botox has become a household name since it was first approved for use by the FDA in 2002. Botox remains the most requested non-surgical facial anti-aging treatment in our Scottsdale and Chandler, AZ aesthetics practices.

Why is Botox Cosmetic so popular?

Botox Cosmetic (botulinum toxin) has the effect of relaxing the muscles localized to a specific area. As soon as Botox is injected into the muscles that create and deepen fine lines on the upper face, those muscles relax. As a result, the muscles are prevented from contracting excessively, which softens and smoothes the lines and slows their progression over time.

Botox can be used to treat:

  • forehead lines
  • vertical lines between the eyebrows
  • crow's feet
  • along the jawline
  • aging neck

Your Botox Consultation

During your consultation, one of our aesthetic nurse injectors will evaluate your skin condition and listen to your concerns and desired results. We will evaluate your medical history, discuss reasonable expectations for results, and go over a customized treatment plan. If we determine that you are a good candidate for Botox Cosmetic, we will proceed with treatment or schedule a follow-up where you can receive your injections.

What Can Botox Do for You?

  • Relieve forehead wrinkles
  • Make your eyes wrinkle-free by smoothing away crow’s feet
  • Sculpt your jawline
  • Bring a youthful, relaxed appearance to your face
  • Provide softness to platysma and neck bands
  • Keep brow furrows to a minimum
  • Get the aesthetic vision you want without plastic surgery
  • Enhance your appearance by making you look rested and refreshed

The Procedure

Your procedure begins before you arrive in our practice. Prior to receiving any injectable treatment, we advise that you avoid consuming alcohol and blood-thinning medications such as aspirin or other NSAIDs (with your doctor's approval). This will help prevent excessive bruising during your treatment.

During the procedure, your nurse injector will first ensure your total comfort. Topical numbing and/or ice will be applied to the treatment area prior to injecting the medication. Using a fine gauge needle, your provider will then administer Botox into the muscles responsible for creating the offending lines.

Following each injection, your provider may apply ice to reduce swelling and minimize discomfort. Once your treatment is completed, you can resume your normal activities with a few exceptions. Your aesthetic injector will provide you with aftercare instructions to ensure you get the best results.

Results & Aftercare

There is no downtime associated with Botox procedures, however patients can expect to see some redness and swelling at the injection site. This will fade after a few days, and you may begin to see some results at that time. Botox results typically take 2-3 weeks to manifest. At that time, we will have you back in for a follow-up appointment to check on your progress. If this was your first Botox Cosmetic treatment, you may require additional units of Botox at this time.

Results from Botox Cosmetic typically last 3-4 months, at which point you should return to get a touch-up treatment. Touch-ups often require fewer units of Botox Cosmetic than the initial visit, so you'll save money over time.

Botox FAQ

The best way to get your questions about Botox and other injectables answered is during a personalized consultation with one of our nurse injectors. This will allow us to provide you with information unique to your situation and needs. While you wait for your appointment date, use the information below to find out more about treatments.

How does Botox Cosmetic work?

When injected, Botox works by relaxing the muscle and preventing excessive contractions when you make facial expressions. Botox will not freeze your face; you should still be able to make facial expressions. Botox merely relaxes the muscles to help prevent lines from forming and/or slow the progression of lines and wrinkles.

Is Botox safe?

Botox is FDA-approved as a non-surgical treatment for the treatment of lines and wrinkles of the upper face. In addition to being a procedure, Botox is also FDA-approved as a treatment for medical conditions such as migraine headaches, excessive sweating (hyperhidrosis), and cervical dystonia. It's also currently being tested as a treatment for depression, asthma, and as a life-saving heart treatment.

Who can get Botox treatments?

Adults over 21 years of age who have unwanted lines in the upper face and are in good health are often considered good candidates for Botox Cosmetic treatments. If you have crow's feet, forehead lines, brow lines, a drooping brow, or just want a more feminine jawline, you are likely a good candidate.

Men also benefit from Botox Cosmetic, and actually make up roughly 6% of all Botox procedures.

Who shouldn't get Botox?

No treatment is one-size-fits-all, and not everyone seeking Botox treatments will be a good candidate. If you have a history of severe allergies or are allergic to any of the ingredients, you should not receive treatment. Women who are pregnant or nursing also should not receive Botox. Patients taking certain medications or supplements should stop taking them (under the supervision and approval of their physicians) or seek alternative treatment options.

If you aren't a good candidate for Botox injections, we have other non-surgical facial anti-aging treatments and products that may be right for you. We invite you to see us for a consultation to find out if one of our other facial rejuvenation treatments will help you achieve your aesthetic goals.

What areas can be treated with Botox Cosmetic?

Botox Cosmetic is FDA-approved to treat forehead lines, brow lines (11's), and crow's feet. However, aesthetic injectors sometimes use it as an off-label solution for jawline rejuvenation, facial feminization, and even neck rejuvenation. If you have migraines, grind your teeth (bruxism) or have excessive sweating (hyperhidrosis), Botox may be a good solution for you.

Where will my Botox Cosmetic treatment be performed?

Botox is an in-office procedure, so you can receive your injections right in one of our three convenient locations in Scottsdale and Chandler, AZ.

Is it painful? Will anesthesia be used?

Most patients report that they have only mild discomfort during their Botox treatments. The needle is very fine and a topical anesthetic can be used prior to injections to minimize discomfort. Most patients say that the temporary, minor discomfort during treatment is worth it for the results obtained afterward.

What are the potential side-effects?

For most patients, side-effects are relatively mild and subside within a few days. These include some swelling, tenderness, redness, and/or bruising at the injection site. Serious side-effects are rare but can include symptoms of an allergic reaction such as trouble breathing or excessive swelling. A full medical history and examination by a medically licensed professional will help reduce the risks of a serious adverse event, so it's important to select your provider wisely and provide a full medical history to our providers during your consultation.

Important safety information: All FDA-approved drugs have inherent risk. Read the mandated safety information.

How much does Botox cost?

Botox cost varies depending on where you live and the provider administering treatment. In our three convenient medical spa locations in Scottsdale, North Scottsdale, and Chandler, AZ, price varies depending on your provider. We also offer monthly specials and participate in the Allē® rewards program by Allergan, allowing you to earn points with each treatment to be used toward special discounts on future treatments and products.

1Individual results may vary. 2All manufacturer claims, in regards to the benefits, process, length/effectiveness of treatments, how soon you'll see results or heal, or claims of minimal side effects such as minor redness or mild discomfort or no downtime, are provided by the pharmaceautical manufacturers as part of their guidelines in promoting their product and are backed by case studies/peer-reviewed publications and are published on their individual websites. 3Testimonials are the opinions of real clients that wanted to provide them and express their opinion to others. When written, the only editing done was to fix minor grammatical/syntax errors and/or to truncate extended testimonials that, while nice, went a bit long. Video testimonials are unedited. 4Treatments and services that are time-related (such as fees per a "20 minute session") are rooted in the fact that most appointments (i.e. the historical average amount of time required to complete most areas we treat) take that amount of time; however, it may be recommended or advised or necessary that more than one session time is required to achieve whatever affect you're looking for (such as someone wanting to treat many areas of their body vs someone simply wanting to treat their hands). A quick consultation in our office will provide you the exact time required to treat whatever you wish since treatment areas have a direct impact on time required to treat such areas. 5Superlatives, when describing services/products, are manufacturer claims and, in the end, it's your opinion as to what service/product is right/effective/best for you. 6Internal comparison claims comparing one technology to another (such as stating that a new product is x% better than the previous model, similar to how a 2023 model vehicle has many advances/improvements over a 2010 vehicle), when comparisons are done within the same company's lineup, are the manufacturer's statement-of-fact and reflect the latest science and/or breakthrough that, when released as a product, is the best/most effective at the time within their own product lineup — they are not claims comparing their product against other manufacturers' products. 7Videos, which we have chosen to add links to on our website, are either local television coverage pieces or third-party videos that we feel are great for learning and gaining an overview of the process of several services we offer; but third-party videos (e.g. those in the public domain, such as YouTube) in no way should be construed as an endorsement of Ultra Smooth Skin and/or our services specifically. They are meant as an awareness tool to help you decide upon common treatments provided by Ultra Smooth Skin and medspa providers nationwide. Some videos are produced by the pharmceutical manufacturers and others are by service providers, while still others are television appearances by Lisa Williams, the owner of Ultra Smooth Skin. 8Time is accurate as certain procedures have a fixed-length time of treatment per area. 9At our locations. 10Data on file at manufacturer.
