Dissolve Chin Fat with Kybella®

Tell your double chin its days are numbered, because there is a new solution to fat reduction beneath the chin that doesn't require liposuction surgery! It's called Kybella, and it comes to us from the makers of Botox® Cosmetic. Find out more about this revolutionary new fat elimination injectable available in our Phoenix-area medical spas located in Scottsdale and Chandler, AZ.

Kybella: Double Chin Reduction Without Surgery

Exercise and dieting are not always effective. In the past, the only way to remove a double chin was through liposuction. Kybella offers an alternative. The human body produces a type of metabolic acid, known as deoxycholic acid, that helps your body digest fat more easily. Kybella works in much the same way. Kybella is a pharmaceutical injection that uses deoxycholic acid to destroy your submental fat through a series of treatments. Unlike liposuction, Kybella is non-invasive, low-risk and does not require a long recovery period.

What to Expect From a Kybella Treatment at Ultra Smooth Skin

At Ultra Smooth Skin, we provide our patients with the best possible care at our three convenient Phoenix-area medical spa locations in Scottsdale and Chandler, AZ. Our providers are experienced injection specialists who have administered countless dermal filler and Botox treatments to patients in our top-rated medical spa.

The Kybella Consultation

During your consultation, we will discuss your medical history and any medications you are taking. Our specialists will explain the treatment process, discuss your desired results, and determine if you're a good candidate for Kybella. We will then schedule your first in a series of treatments and provide you with instructions on how to prepare for your injections.

The Kybella Procedure

Although Kybella is a non-invasive procedure, there are still a few things to remember before your treatment. You should avoid alcohol, aspirin or any blood thinning medications or supplements. We also advise patients to abstain from alcohol prior and following treatment.

A treatment typically consists of 15 to 20 injections of Kybella. This may be more or less depending on your individual needs. You will be numbed using an injectable lidocaine, a local anesthetic. Once the lidocaine has taken effect, your provider will inject Kybella in a grid format to target and eliminate unwanted fat.

Kybella Results and Follow-up Treatments

Results will not be immediately obvious, and it may be several weeks before you see a reduction in fat. In most cases, you will need between two and six total treatments to achieve a total loss of fat cells. We administer each treatment one month apart.

After three to six months, your treatment will be complete. Because Kybella destroys the submental fat cells, you will enjoy permanent results.

Kybella FAQ

If you have any questions or concerns about Kybella, it's best to discuss them with our providers during your personalized consultation so that we may address your specific needs more thoroughly. While you wait for your consultation, you can understand Kybella a little better by browsing the FAQ below.

How Does Kybella Work?

The active ingredient in Kybella is deoxycholic acid, a natural substance that targets fat cells and breaks them down. Kybella is injected below the chin where it destroys your fat cells. As the cells can no longer store fat, your body metabolizes them by flushing them out of your body through your lymphatic system.

Why Should I Choose Ultra Smooth Skin for Kybella?

Lisa Williams ANP-C, medical director at Ultra Smooth Skin, is a specialist in facial anti-aging. Lisa was quick to realize the practical benefits of Kybella as an alternative to liposuction or surgery for the removal of submental fat. In addition to Kybella, we offer CoolSculpting for fat reduction on other parts of the body as a nonsurgical alternative to liposuction. Our practice is recognized as a top-rated provider of Kybella and other injectables such as Botox and Juvederm® by Allergan®, the makers of the aforementioned treatments.

How Many Treatments Will I Need?

Most patients begin to see a difference in two to four treatments, but permanent results may take as many as six treatments. We will discuss how many treatments we expect you will need during your consultation.

Who Is a Good Candidate for Kybella?

Kybella is approved for most healthy adults over the age of 18 who have submental fullness they would like to eliminate without liposuction.

Who Shouldn't Get Kybella?

Patients who are pregnant or nursing should not receive Kybella. If you are allergic to any of the ingredients, you should not receive treatment. Patients with certain medical conditions or are on certain medications or supplements also should not receive Kybella due to the risk of serious side effects. We can determine if you are a good candidate during your consultation.

What Areas Can Be Treated With Kybella?

Kybella is FDA-approved to treat submental fullness; however, it is currently being tested as a solution to unwanted fat in other areas of the body. In the meantime, we have CoolSculpting to help you reduce your unwanted body fat.

Where Will My Kybella Treatments Be Performed?

Kybella is performed in our three convenient locations in Scottsdale and Chandler, AZ. It is not a surgical procedure, so a hospital visit is not necessary. You may receive treatment in the same location where you have your consultation.

Does Kybella Hurt? Will I Receive Anesthesia?

Injectable lidocaine is administered prior to Kybella treatments. This will numb the area for treatment. Following the treatment, you will experience some swelling and discomfort. We recommend that you apply ice and take an over-the-counter non-aspirin pain reliever such as acetaminophen to manage any mild discomfort.

Are There Any Side Effects With Kybella?

While there are some potential side effects, the most common ones are mild. They include swelling, bruising, and redness following treatment. Serious side effects are rare and will be discussed prior to you receiving treatment. Most of these more serious side effects can be avoided by entrusting your care to a licensed, experienced provider who has a proven track record of patient safety and results.

How Much Does Kybella Cost?

Costs vary depending on your provider, but we offer a simple flat rate for each treatment. We also offer discounts and monthly specials, so your final cost may be less than the standard treatment.

Where Can I See Kybella Before and After Photos?

You can find photos of successful treatments at the official website for Kybella by Allergan. Patients who have received treatment vary in age from 33 to 59, and most of the people photographed received just four treatments. This is an excellent place to see what your potential results may look like. We also offer Kybella before and after photos for your review in our medical spas.

1Individual results may vary. 2All manufacturer claims, in regards to the benefits, process, length/effectiveness of treatments, how soon you'll see results or heal, or claims of minimal side effects such as minor redness or mild discomfort or no downtime, are provided by the pharmaceautical manufacturers as part of their guidelines in promoting their product and are backed by case studies/peer-reviewed publications and are published on their individual websites. 3Testimonials are the opinions of real clients that wanted to provide them and express their opinion to others. When written, the only editing done was to fix minor grammatical/syntax errors and/or to truncate extended testimonials that, while nice, went a bit long. Video testimonials are unedited. 4Treatments and services that are time-related (such as fees per a "20 minute session") are rooted in the fact that most appointments (i.e. the historical average amount of time required to complete most areas we treat) take that amount of time; however, it may be recommended or advised or necessary that more than one session time is required to achieve whatever affect you're looking for (such as someone wanting to treat many areas of their body vs someone simply wanting to treat their hands). A quick consultation in our office will provide you the exact time required to treat whatever you wish since treatment areas have a direct impact on time required to treat such areas. 5Superlatives, when describing services/products, are manufacturer claims and, in the end, it's your opinion as to what service/product is right/effective/best for you. 6Internal comparison claims comparing one technology to another (such as stating that a new product is x% better than the previous model, similar to how a 2019 model vehicle has many advances/improvements over a 2010 vehicle), when comparisons are done within the same company's lineup, are the manufacturer's statement-of-fact and reflect the latest science and/or breakthrough that, when released as a product, is the best/most effective at the time within their own product lineup — they are not claims comparing their product against other manufacturers' products. 7Videos, which we have chosen to add links to on our website, are either local television coverage pieces or third-party videos that we feel are great for learning and gaining an overview of the process of several services we offer; but third-party videos (e.g. those in the public domain, such as YouTube) in no way should be construed as an endorsement of Ultra Smooth Skin and/or our services specifically. They are meant as an awareness tool to help you decide upon common treatments provided by Ultra Smooth Skin and medspa providers nationwide. Some videos are produced by the pharmceutical manufacturers and others are by service providers, while still others are television appearances by Lisa Williams, the owner of Ultra Smooth Skin. 8Time is accurate as certain procedures have a fixed-length time of treatment per area. 9At our locations. 10Data on file at manufacturer.
