How long does Botox last compared to other wrinkle-relaxing injectables?

Let’s compare Botox, Dysport, and Xeomin, all of which are offered in our Scottsdale medical spa.

How long does Botox last? That’s a question we hear often at our Scottsdale medical spa. The answer, of course, depends on the individual and the area treated. In this blog post, we’ll compare Botox, Dysport, and Xeomin to help you understand how long each lasts and when it might be time for a touch-up.

How Long Does BOTOX Last?

In general, Botox will last three to four months in most people. This depends on a few factors:

  1. Treatment area
  2. Amount of BOTOX used
  3. Your metabolism

Some patients enjoy a longer duration, sometimes around 5-6 months, while others will need touch-ups after 2 months. If you’re concerned your Botox isn’t lasting long enough, you should discuss it with your injector and explore options for other treatments like Dysport or Xeomin.

How Long Do Dysport and Xeomin Last?

You can expect Dysport and Xeomin to last roughly the same amount of time as Botox. Like Botox, this can vary from person to person depending on the treatment area, the amount used, and your metabolism.

How Long BOTOX Lasts Can Change Over Time

When you get BOTOX or another wrinkle-relaxing injectable, the amount of time you need between injections can vary. This can be caused by your body getting used to BOTOX. You may need to receive touch-up treatments more frequently or less frequently, as a result.

How Long Does It Take to See Results After Treatment?

With BOTOX, results typically appear around 3-5 days following injection. It can take up to 7-10 days to see the final results, however. If the full desired results don’t appear after 2 weeks, it’s a good idea to return for a touch-up application.

Dysport takes less time, around 2-3 days to see results, but it may take up to 7 days. Xeomin works within 3 days as well.

What Makes Dysport Different From Botox?

Dysport and Botox are both wrinkle-relaxing injections, but they work differently. Dysport is a little more diluted than Botox, so it spreads out a bit more when injected. This can make it a little less precise, but it also means that you may need less Dysport to achieve the same results. Dysport also begins working a bit faster than Botox.

What Makes Xeomin Different From Botox?

Xeomin is a more purified Botox alternative. Some call it the “naked” neurotoxin because it only contains the active ingredient, botulinum toxin A. Botox and Dysport are combined with other ingredients, such as protective proteins. Xeomin also works faster, with results appearing around day 3.

Which Wrinkle Relaxer is Most Effective?

They all last around 3-4 months, but efficacy largely depends on your needs and experience with other injectables neurotoxins. For example, if you’ve used BOTOX and aren’t seeing the results you once experienced due to changes to how your body responds to it, we may recommend Dysport or Xeomin as an alternative.

The bottom line is that the most effective treatment is the one that works best for you.

What is the Price Difference Between BOTOX, Dysport, and Xeomin?

Dysport and Xeomin tend to cost less than BOTOX, but the total cost per unit varies depending on where you go for your treatment. You can see our current prices on our website, and we encourage you to check for our special offers each month as well. You can also speak with one of our staff members about rewards programs so you can earn savings on your treatments.

We encourage you to select your wrinkle relaxer based on your provider’s recommendations on what’s best for you and not based on the cost of the treatment compared to another treatment. By selecting the right injectable based on your needs and goals, your results will be better than if you opted for a less expensive injection simply because it costs less.

Again, please speak with us about special offers and rewards programs to help you save.

Are Wrinkle Relaxers Safe and Effective for Everyone?

Like any medical procedure or prescription, neurotoxins are not right for everyone. While the majority of patients who come to see us are good candidates for BOTOX, Dysport, or Xeomin, there are rare circumstances when a patient should not receive these treatments.

There’s no one-size-fits-all approach to aesthetic medicine, so it’s important to have a consultation with an aesthetic nurse to determine what’s right for you. We take into consideration your health history, other treatments you’ve received, medications and supplements you take, and more.
