Ah, so many different types of peels...
All kids have peeled away the paint from a building or two. Well, at least we admit WE did. But now, being older, wiser, and legal to sip a cocktail (or two) we think of lemons when we hear "peel." After all, lemon peels ARE good in some libations.
In the old days, if one suffered particulary badly from excessive acne when they were younger, chemical peels were the only option. But not anymore.
The laser peel procedure is used primarily to diminish wrinkles or improve acne scarring. The laser emits a precise beam of light that heats and vaporizes skin and tissue instantaneously. The resurfacing procedure is very effective against moderate to severe wrinkles — especially around the eyes and mouth, including lines, grooves, bags, and sagging skin. It also rids uneven pigmentation and helps diminish skin blemished with scars from accidents or acne.
Treatment can be performed anywhere on the body, especially on those areas that are susceptible to stretch marks and scars. Damaged skin is removed and a stimulation of new skin growth promotes a healthy new collagen layer. A light lunchtime peel, or a more aggressive peel where one is red for a few days, can be performed.
The initial recovery takes one to two days. Most people are back to work within two to three days. Makeup can be used to cover the redness, which may last up to one week.
